RCS Pinellas announces John “Tracy” Wiecking as executive director of the Haven of RCS, a nonprofit in Clearwater.
He is responsible for a team of advocates to empower women and their children to end the cycle of violence, power and control and move to self- sufficiency and self-determination. They do this by providing shelter, outreach and support.
Prior to joining RCS Pinellas, Wieckling was a pastor in the United Methodist Church, focusing on social justice ministry in addition to pastoring churches. He was part of a team that spearheaded the development of a shelter for battered women and their young children outside St. Louis, Mo.
Wieckling served as Director of Special Services and Chief Operating Officer for 31 years with Community Treatment, Inc., a comprehensive federally-qualified health center providing medical, dental, mental health and substance use treatment services to indigent individuals and families. For more than three decades, he was part of a team that created a child advocacy center providing forensic interviewing of children who were allegedly seriously physically or sexually abused, as well as equine and canine therapy services.
Wieckling also served as Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity in western Wisconsin before moving to Florida. He has served on numerous community organization boards and task forces.
Wieckling holds a Master of Divinity degree from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. and a Bachelor of Arts in Interpersonal Relationships from McKendree University in Illinois.
