St. Pete’s #StopTheBan protest echoes national movement
Across the country, abortion rights advocates are rallying in protest to recent laws passed by several states to restrict abortion access. Organized nationally by a coalition of forces, including Planned Parenthood Action Fund, ACLU and others, thousands rallied in front of judicial buildings in cities everywhere.
In St. Petersburg, a crowd of hundreds gathered in front of the downtown Judicial Building along 1st Avenue North between 5th and 6th streets. The local protest was organized by Progress Florida, Fired Up Pinellas, League of Women Voters and Women’s March Florida Chapter – Pinellas.
Mayor Rick Kriseman and State Representative Jennifer Webb were also in attendance.
