Tombolo Books to Host Book Launch for Local Author Sterling Watson’s Forthcoming Title, The Committee
Sunday January 5, 2020 at 4:00 PM, St. Petersburg’s newest independent bookstore, Tombolo Books will host the launch of local author, screenwriter, and Eckerd College Professor Emeritus Sterling Watson’s new novel. The Committee (Akashic Books) isn’t due out until Tuesday January 7, but guests who attend the event at Tombolo Books will have early access to purchase the book in advance of its official release date.
The Committee is a work of historical fiction recalling a McCarthyistic period of Florida history, centering the action in Gainesville where university students and staff attract special attention from the governor’s henchmen. Our protagonist, a university professor, finds himself navigating treacherous professional waters while facing blackmail and his own ethical standards.
During the event at Tombolo Books, Watson will engage in a Q&A with Colette Bancroft, book editor at the Tampa Bay Times. The book launch will be catered by local restaurant, Harvey’s 4th Street Grill.
