Caprice Edmond earns support from wide ranging sectors

 Unions, current and former elected officials, parents, educators and
community leaders endorse Pinellas School Board, District 7 candidate

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Caprice Edmond, candidate for Pinellas County School Board, District 7 has received the endorsement of the Pinellas Classroom Teachers Association (PCTA-PESPA), the union for teachers and support professionals. 

“I am proud my candidacy for School Board has been recommended by teachers themselves, as they are the ones who know me and my approach best,” said Edmond. “Having teachers and school personnel behind me validates that my lived experience as an educator, parent, and community leader adds significant value to my ability to advocate for policy changes.”

Additional endorsements have come in for Edmond from the Suncoast Police Benevolent Association, the Service Employees International Union, the Pinellas Realtor Organization, and the Florida LGBTQ+ Democratic Caucus. Local leaders endorsing Edmond include Representative Jennifer Webb (FL House District 69), St. Petersburg City Council Members Amy Foster and Brandi Gabbard, former City Council Member Steve Kornell, Gulfport City Council Member Paul Ray, former Pinellas County School Board members Linday Lerner and Terry Krassner. Countless community members, educators, and activists have also endorsed Edmond, some of whom are listed below.

Edmond has dedicated her professional life to serving and advocating for Pinellas County children and their families. She has Master degrees in Educational Leadership and Elementary Education from USF-St. Petersburg as well as a certification in Infant Family Mental Health. She is currently employed by Pinellas County Schools, as an educator at the elementary school she attended as a child. There she has helped establish the Science Club, the STEM Club, and the PTA. 

Edmond serves on the PCTA-PESPA Government Relations Committee and Appraisal Advisory Committee. Statewide, Edmond serves the Florida Education Association as its Teacher Program Policy Chair and also serves on its Goals and Budget Committee and Governance Board. She is the past chair of the Florida Young Remarkable Educators.
