Chorus Angelorum Presents “A CELEBRATION OF CENTURIES: Music from the Renaissance to the Founding of America”

A public concert series of vocal and instrumental chamber ensembles from 16th Century to present day American composers

St. Petersburg, FL – Chorus Angelorum of St. Petersburg, Florida, Tampa Bay’s premier a cappella vocal ensemble, is proud to present a 25th Anniversary concert series of four programs that are free and open to the public. Select works will include performances with special guest artists Helen Hansen French and members from The Florida Orchestra performing as the Iona Consort chamber ensemble.

Under the artistic direction of Rick L. Smith, musical selections this season are curated from five centuries of music performed by an auditioned vocal ensemble and instrumentalists on specific repertoire, including a string quintet, flute, oboe, bassoon, percussion and organ. Two works are unique to the group as original compositions with music and libretto by Rick Smith and P. Michael Davis: “Windows of Christmas” inspired by stained glass depicting the Christmas story in vocal and instrumental music with spoken word and dance, and “Musical Americana” with script as part of the celebration of America’s founding 250 years ago.

Chorus Angelorum began in 2001 as a Renaissance and early music vocal group co-founded by Smith and Davis. Now celebrating its 25th performance year, concerts have expanded to include music of the Baroque and Romantic periods, early 20th century, American composers, world music and even contemporary and popular styles. Concerts are an entertaining, enjoyable, educational and eclectic mix of musical styles with commentary as to the historical and artistic significance of the composers and their works.

“Chamber music is often referred to as “the music of friends” due to its intimate and expressive nature. Whenever a small group of instrumentalists or vocalists performs, we are reminded that music brings people together and helps us connect,” said Smith. “To have done that for 25 years throughout the Tampa Bay region is certainly cause for celebration, and to continue to offer these performances as free to all is just one way in which Chorus Angelorum stands apart in the arts.”

Wednesday, December 10, 2025: Windows of Christmas
