DeBartolo Family Foundation Presents Our Children Have Rights with Spirit of Humanity Award
The DeBartolo Family Foundation presents Our Children Have Rights (OCHR) with the $25,000 Spirit of Humanity Award. This award honors local nonprofits that demonstrate exceptional compassion, resilience, and a powerful commitment to uplifting others.
OCHR helps parents achieve successful child custody and co-parenting strategies, at no cost to the family. The award recognizes its Educational Workshops program, conducted in partnership with local organizations.
The program is offered year-round to single, unmarried, separated and divorced parents.
And has become a popular draw for employee wellness programs and the stakeholders to which co-parent engagement is critical; school systems, early learning community, municipalities such as the City of St. Petersburg and St. Petersburg Police Dept., social service agencies and more.
“We’re grateful to the DeBartolo Family Foundation for recognizing the program’s value in pairing early childhood and early learning programming with both parents’ ability to work. These components go hand in hand in our educational materials for developing successful co-parenting strategies. Workshops have showcased early childhood resources/speakers, such as Turbo Babies, and workforce partners including AMSKILLS (manufacturing) and Evara Health Institute (healthcare). The neighborhood approach is needed for the ripple effect our signature program is intended to achieve.”, says Jake Hornstein, Co-Founder & Executive Director of Our Children Have Rights.
The Spirit of Humanity Award will help expand OCHR’s reach and ensure more parents across Tampa Bay receive the education and guidance they need during a most challenging experience. In addition to financial support, the award offers increased visibility and credibility, strengthening OCHR’s ability to engage future funders, donors, and community partners.
Lisa DeBartolo, Chief Executive Officer of the DeBartolo Family Foundation, added: “Our Children Have Rights is a powerful example of what’s possible when advocacy, education, and compassion come together. Their work truly embodies the spirit of this award, and we’re honored to support their continued efforts.”
