Doc Ford’s employees partner with Keep Pinellas Beautiful at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve
Team members from the Jungle Terrace Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille in St. Petersburg recently volunteered at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve, a 400-acre natural sanctuary in the heart of the city. Working with Keep Pinellas Beautiful, the employees cleared weeds and invasive species, planted 60 varieties of native milkweed and installed educational QR code stands identifying the plants. It was Doc Ford’s first time partnering with the nonprofit organization.
“We are happy to support the community and Keep Pinellas Beautiful’s efforts by improving the health and beauty of the preserve for others to enjoy,” said Dustin Rickards, general manager of the Jungle Terrace Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille. “We look forward to volunteering with the organization in the future.”
Located at 1101 Country Club Way S. along the 360-acre Lake Maggiore, Boyd Hill Nature Preserve offers trails spanning diverse wildlife habitats, a primitive campground and a pioneer settlement with historic buildings dating to the late 19th century. The Lake Maggiore Environmental Education Center features a variety of nature programs, including camps, hikes and specialty events.
