Gild Insurance, the digital independent insurance agency that pioneered the use of AI in small commercial insurance, today announced the appointment of Tim Lovett as Head of Operations. In this role, Lovett will lead distribution and client service behind the agency’s AI-driven omnichannel quote-to-bind process. He reports to Founder and President Mary Duggan Hoeprich.

Lovett’s appointment reflects Gild’s continued investment in the insurance expertise and operations behind its technology, supporting an omnichannel model that gives small business owners access to the same Gild experience whether they quote online, by text, or directly with a licensed Gild Agent.

Lovett brings nearly 20 years of insurance leadership experience to the role, most recently serving as Head of Sales at Three Insurance, a Berkshire Hathaway Company, where he rebuilt the sales organization in eight months, reversing negative premium trends and driving the company toward double-digit new business growth.

“Tim has spent his career modernizing insurance distribution and operations for some of the largest carriers in the nation. He shares our conviction that small business owners deserve the best technology paired with expert advice,” said Mary Duggan Hoeprich. “We built Gild to be the small business insurance specialist. Tim’s mandate is to put that expertise within reach of far more owners who need it.”

Prior to Three, Lovett held senior roles at two of the country’s largest carriers. At Nationwide Insurance, he managed an $800 million portfolio and delivered a tenfold increase in transactions while reducing expenses by 40% within 18 months. At The Hartford, he developed the company’s Strategic Partnerships and Alternative Distribution model, evaluating nearly 1,000 insurtech solutions and launching dozens of partnerships.

“Small business has long been one of the hardest segments for the industry to serve well. Too much of the digital experience has been built around transactional pricing rather than advice,” said Lovett. “Gild combines strong technology with licensed insurance professionals who understand these businesses and their risks. My focus is advancing that model and extending its value to more owners.”
