TAMPA BAY, FL — Orangetheory Fitness Afterburn, a franchisee and area representative of Orangetheory Fitness which operates and oversees 90 studios across Florida, Texas, and Washington is donating $30 thousand dollars to the American Red Cross to support those affected by Hurricane Ian. As part of the donation, franchise locations are dedicating their annual “Hell Week” workouts from October 24-31 to support those in the Ft. Myers and Cape Coral areas recovering from one of the most destructive storms in history to impact that area.

“As a Bay area resident with family in Ft. Myers, and employer that have been affected by Hurricane Ian, I have seen first-hand the aftermath and destruction from the storm,” said Jim Potesta, Chief Executive Officer of Orangetheory Fitness Afterburn. “It is uplifting to see the number of members registered to participate in “Hell Week” in support of the Ft. Myers community. Because of our members, we were able to double our initial donation to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Ian Relief,” said Potesta.

As part of the donation, Orangetheory Fitness Afterburn studios throughout Florida, Texas and Washington will be participating in their annual fitness challenge, “Hell Week”, from October 24-31. The challenge encourages members to participate in at least four of eight challenging workouts throughout that timeframe. Thus far, 30% of the Afterburn studio member base has registered to participate in honor of those affected by Hurricane Ian.

“I am proud of our organization for getting creative to support and encourage those that were affected. While we understand it will take millions to rebuild the city’s infrastructure, we hope this donation will help to bring back some normalcy to the Ft. Myers community,” said Potesta.

Orangetheory Fitness Afterburn has 16 locations within the state of Florida with plans to expand with the addition of Orangetheory Fitness Estero in the Southwest Florida area later this year.
