Lealman Exchange Launches Inclusive Free Swim Program for Youth
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — September 11, 2025 — The Lealman Exchange is proud to announce the launch of its fall Lealman Swim Program, providing free swim lessons for local children and teens. Made possible through partnerships with Community Foundation Tampa Bay, Step Into Swim, and the Jim & Heather Gills YMCA, the program begins October 4, 2025, and runs for eight weeks.
The program is open to Lealman residents ages 6 to 16 of all swimming abilities. Each Saturday session runs from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., with 30 minutes of instructor-led lessons followed by 30 minutes of free swim. Parents and guardians may stay to watch or drop off participants with a provided chaperone.
This fall, the program expands accessibility with the addition of an ASL interpreter to support participants who are deaf or hard of hearing.
“The swim program has quickly become one of our favorite initiatives! We watch kids go from scared of the water to joyful in the water in one lesson. It is a real pleasure to see them learning to swim, gaining a healthy respect for water safety, and becoming more confident. We’re proud to continue offering this opportunity and appreciate the support of our partners.
