Local Artist Angelica Reisch Debuts Solo Exhibition at Miami’s MIFA
Angelica Reisch Presents The Things That Stay at Miami International Fine Arts
A Solo Exhibition Exploring Memory, Domestic Space, and the Residue of Presence
Miami, FL — Miami International Fine Arts (MIFA) is proud to present The Things That Stay, a solo exhibition of new work by artist Angelica Reisch, curated by Pamela Solares. The exhibition will be on view April 9 – May 22, 2026, with an opening reception on Thursday, April 9, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
The Things That Stay brings together a new series of drawings and archival audio recordings that explore memory, domestic space, and the subtle traces of presence that remain after moments pass.
Working in graphite and oil pastel, Reisch renders interior environments—bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and transitional spaces—not as exact locations but as psychological landscapes shaped by routine, emotion, and recollection. These spaces appear suspended in time: recently inhabited, yet quietly empty, holding the residue of lived experience without defining who occupied them.
“What remains when you leave a room?” asks Reisch. “This work considers how interior environments shape our sense of self, and how memory informs the ways we construct personal histories.”
Alongside the drawings, the exhibition incorporates archival sound recordings collected by the artist over more than a decade. These audio fragments deepen the atmosphere of the work, creating an immersive encounter where image and sound converge to evoke the quiet complexity of remembered spaces.
Through this interplay of drawing, sound, and reflection, The Things That Stay invites viewers to consider the ways everyday environments quietly accumulate meaning and become part of personal history.
This exhibition is made possible in part through grant funding from South Arts.
Public Programming
An Artist Talk and Q&A moderated by Pamela Solares will take place during the exhibition. Reisch will discuss the development of the work and her approach to interior space, memory, repetition, and sound. Following the talk, visitors will be invited to spend additional time experiencing the exhibition in the gallery.
As part of the programming, the artist will also introduce bilingual memory prompt cards available throughout the exhibition. These prompts invite visitors to reflect on their own interior environments and personal histories, encouraging a more intimate engagement with the work. Exhibition texts will be presented in both English and Spanish.
