Floor Coverings International St. Petersburg to Open New Showroom in MLK Business District

St. Petersburg, FL (April 15, 2026) – Floor Coverings International St. Petersburg, a locally owned, woman-owned small business, is preparing to open a brand-new showroom at 3236 MLK Jr. St. N. in St. Petersburg’s MLK Business District.

For owner Shona Holden, the move represents a meaningful next step in the growth of the family business she and her husband and co-owner, Reid Holden, have built right here in St. Pete. Since relocating to St. Petersburg in 2012, the Holdens have made Venetian Isles their home, building both their family life and business in the community.

The new showroom will be a major upgrade from the company’s previous location inside the Skyline Building, which was open by appointment only and had little visibility from the road. The new approximately 1,500-square-foot space, located just down the street, will give the business a much more prominent presence along MLK Street, with the opportunity for prominent storefront signage and easy access for passing drivers and local homeowners.

“We’ve been serving St. Pete-area homeowners for years, but our previous showroom was tucked away and hard to find,” said Shona Holden. “This move gives us the chance to create a space that’s more visible, more welcoming, and better reflects who we are as a local family-run business.”

Once the move is complete, the showroom will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with appointments available outside of those hours. It is located next door to Uptown Barber Bar and across the street from the new Aldi, placing the business in a growing and increasingly visible commercial corridor.

While Floor Coverings International is known for its Mobile Flooring Showroom® model—bringing flooring samples directly to customers’ homes—the new storefront will offer an additional destination where customers can browse materials, gather inspiration, and meet with the team in person.

A grand opening is planned for later this spring.

Holden brings nearly 20 years of residential interior design experience, with a background in renovations and new construction. She is also active in the local community through organizations including the Rotary Club of St. Petersburg and The Stuart Society, and regularly supports local charitable events.
