Three-time Manager of the Year Joe Maddon will bring back his traditional Thanksmas meal to the Homeless Empowerment Program in Clearwater, Florida at 4 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, his birthday. Maddon began his Thanksmas initiative as manager of the Tampa Bay Rays in 2006 and since then has served thousands of meals at homeless shelters in Tampa Bay, Chicago, Hazleton, PA and Orange County, CA.

“We are delighted to return to HEP,” said Maddon. “Thanksmas has traditionally been held between between Thanksgiving and Christmas, but it is really more about reminding people that homelessness exists year-round, not just at the holidays.”

Maddon will collaborate with HEP’s Director of Food Services Shaun Clancy, formerly the proprietor of Foley’s in New York City, to prepare his Thanksmas family recipe of spaghetti and meatballs and pierogies.

The Homeless Empowerment Program is located at 1120 North Betty Lane in Clearwater.
