ST. PETERSBURG, FL (July 30, 2024)

The Pinellas County Urban League will hold its 1st Summer Rally in S.T.Y.L.E. celebrating the graduation of the Summer Training in Youth Leadership and Employment 2024 cohort, a program funded by the City of St. Petersburg. The event will feature voting information, community vendors, local food trucks, and free legal and financial advice. The rally will occur Friday, August 2, 2024, 4:00 PM at Pinellas Technical College (PTC) 901 34th St S, St. Petersburg, FL 33711.

This event will also kick off Pinellas County Urban League’s ‘Reclaim your Vote’ campaign, a national effort to promote voter registration, voter education, and voter activation. This initiative is a part of the National Urban League’s D3 Campaign (Defend Democracy, Demand Diversity, and Defeat Poverty) of which PCUL is an active affiliate. Local PCUL ‘Reclaim Your Vote’ activities leading up to the election will include poll worker recruitment events, voter canvassing events, the kickoff of the PCUL Advocacy Podcast, and more.

Combined within the rally is the opportunity to taste food selections from local food-entrepreneurs for PCUL’ Food Truck Friday. In partnership with the Next Level Urban Alliance, guests will have the opportunity to receive free legal and financial advice during the “Ask A Lawyer and CPA Sessions”. This event is also an opportunity for business owners to build capacity and help take their business to the next level.

“I am proud to bring the 1st Summer Rally in S.T.Y.L.E event to our community celebrating the accomplishments of these outstanding students. They have persevered through long hours of training, featuring a 3-day fire academy, started businesses, and attended a national convention leadership workshop. I hope that the community will join us to rally and celebrate our youth, help us ensure a great voter turnout this election season, and rally to learn ways to grow their businesses and enjoy some great food. I guarantee you will leave the event well informed, fed, and inspired,” said Nikki Gaskin Capehart, PCUL President and CEO.

Events will start at 4:00 PM and will continue to 8:00 PM. Attendees are asked to register at https://www.pcul.org/upcoming-events
