St. Petersburg College Marketing Coordinator Earns Third Atlas World Record for 70 Stair-Climbing Race Victories Across Florida
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Troy R. Alston, Marketing Coordinator at St. Petersburg College and founder of StairClimbElite, has been certified by Atlas World Records for achieving the most documented stair-climbing race victories within a single state or province, recognizing 70 victories across Florida between 2010 and 2026.
The achievement marks Alston’s third Atlas World Record and represents more than 15 years of competition in one of the world’s most unique endurance sports.
What began as a training exercise for the 400-meter hurdles evolved into an international athletic career that has taken Alston across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Along the way, he has completed more than 147 stair-climbing races, established more than 50 course records, and received the Key to the City of Niagara Falls, Ontario, after breaking a 32-year stair-climbing record at the Skylon Tower.
Throughout his career, Alston has competed in numerous charity stair-climbing events supporting organizations including the American Lung Association, National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Tunnel to Towers Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The DONNA Foundation, and others.
Outside of athletics, Alston works in higher education marketing at St. Petersburg College, where he helps connect students and families with educational opportunities while continuing to compete internationally in the sport of stair climbing.
