City Furniture buys Largo property

December 28, 2020 - City Furniture, a home furniture retailer headquartered in south Florida, has bought land in Largo for what could be its first store in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area. The company paid $7 million for three parcels of land at 16915 U.S. Highway 19 N. and 16991 U.S. Highway 19 N., according to a deed filed Dec. 22 in Pinellas County.  City Furniture is planning a 120,000-square-foot showroom in Largo, Home News Now reported on Dec. 17. The company separately purchased land in Plant City for a distribution center and showroom, and also plans a showroom in Sarasota, the report said. Keith Koenig, CEO of the 33-store City Furniture chain, told Home News Now that the Tampa area is ripe with opportunity and is the next logical place for expansion, in part because of the area’s affordable housing market and the continuing growth of new residents in the state.
