Clearwater’s DocuPhase buys payments technology company

April 13, 2021 - DocuPhase, a Clearwater-based business process automation software company, has acquired Clearwater Payments, an electronic billing and payment company. Financial terms were not disclosed. Clearwater Payments, based in Dallas, supports and processes millions of business-to-consumer and business-to-buisness payments for companies in banking, insurance, and utilities. It's the second deal in a month for DocuPhase, on the heels of the acquisition of Treeno Software last month. The two deals make DocuPhase one of the few companies to offer end-to-end payments in the accounts receivable and accounts payable automation marketplace, a news release said. Lone Tree Capital, a New York-based private capital firm, acquired DocuPhase in June 2020 and since then DocuPhase has invested over $3 million dollars in technology and talent to strengthen its product offering.
