Coronavirus tops KnowBe4 list of bogus emails

October 12, 2020 -

A new top-clicked phishing report from Clearwater cybersecurity firm KnowBe4 shows coronavirus-related email subjects remain the biggest threat. During the third quarter of 2020, simulated phishing tests with a message related to Covid-19 were the most clicked, while LinkedIn messages dominate social media email subjects, KnowBe4 said. “During this pandemic, we’ve seen malicious hackers preying on users’ biggest weak points by sending messages that instill fear, uncertainty and doubt,” said Stu Sjouwerman, CEO. “Our Q3 report confirms that coronavirus-related subject lines have remained their most promising attack type, as pandemic conditions weaken judgment, and lead to potentially detrimental clicks.” KnowBe4  provides security awareness training and a simulated phishing platform to help workers detect fraudulent emails.
