County accepts $13 million Cross Bayou Canal grant
October 8, 2025 - Pinellas County Commissioners unanimously accepted a $12.93 million Resilient Florida grant agreement Tuesday to complete the first two phases of the Cross Bayou Canal improvements project. The nearly eight-mile canal is a critical stormwater conveyance that extends from Old Tampa Bay to Boca Ciega Bay. Pinellas will also contribute $12.93 million to the project, which will restore and enhance approximately 2.4 miles of the canal and mitigate flooding issues.
