County commissioners declare local state of emergency

September 24, 2024 - Pinellas County Commissioners declared a local state of emergency Tuesday morning ahead of what will soon become Hurricane Helene. The designation allows Sheriff Bob Gualtieri and Administrator Barry Burton to take protective measures and ensure emergency resources are readily available. County officials did not order evacuations at the 10 a.m. emergency meeting. For official hurricane information, visit the website here.
