County increases homestead exemption for low-income seniors
August 15, 2024 - Pinellas County Commissioners unanimously agreed to provide low-income seniors in unincorporated areas with an additional $25,000 homestead exemption. That brings the total to $50,000, over three times more than the City of St. Petersburg's exemption ($15,000). Commissioner Charlie Justice proposed the initiative, which is eligible for property owners over 65 who earn less than $36,614 annually.
