County to rehab former Baypointe Golf Course Brownfield Site

July 14, 2021 - With no questions or comments, Pinellas County Commissioners unanimously passed a Brownfield Site Rehabilitation Agreement with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, for the former Baypointe Golf Course Brownfield site. Designating the site as a brownfield provided the county with the opportunity for state and federal funds as well as added an incentive to perform contamination assessment and remediation. A Brownfield is any contaminated property that is neglected and has a negative impact on property values and/or poses a health risk to the community. When purchasing the former golf course last year, county administrators said it was a rare chance to add greenspace and a regional stormwater management area.
