Covid claims seven more lives in Pinellas County
December 4, 2020 - Seven more people have died in Pinellas County as a result of Covid-19. Friday's report from the Florida Department of Health said there have now been a total of 922 deaths in the county since the pandemic began in March. As of Friday, there was a cumulative total of 34,152 cases in Pinellas, an increase of 295 cases from the previous day. About 3.5 percent of the county's total population has contracted the virus at some point, according to the health department. About 5.2 percent of the Covid test results reported on Thursday were positive, the health department said. The positivity rate has averaged 5.65 percent over the past two weeks. The state Agency for Health Care Administration said 186 people were hospitalized in Pinellas with a primary diagnosis of Covid-19 as of Friday afternoon.
