Cox Enterprises to buy Axios for $525 million
August 10, 2022 - Cox Enterprises is acquiring Axios, the companies announced Aug. 3, with the deal valued at $525 million. The plan is to expand the digital news site’s coverage, which includes the Tampa Bay region, to include more cities. Cox, privately held and based in Atlanta, previously invested in Axios in 2021. Talks to buy the company heated up recently, with Axios continuing to push into local journalism.
