DeSantis visits Clearwater for discussion on Covid-19 and education
July 29, 2020 - Governor Ron DeSantis and Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran visited the Paul B. Stephens ESE Center in Clearwater Wednesday for a discussion on education and Covid-19. They were joined by Pinellas County School superintended Mike Grego, and a group of teachers and parents who discussed the challenges they've faced since schools closed in March, along with their plans for the upcoming year. DeSantis said that he hopes that by allowing parents and teachers to choose between in-person instruction and eLearning, some of the anxiety surrounding returning to school can be alleviated. Corcoran, a father of six, said his children will return to the classroom in the fall. DeSantis's three children are too young to attend school but said he would have "no problem" sending them because he thinks it's safe to do so.
