Duke seeks to recoup $1 billion in storm response costs
December 28, 2024 - St. Petersburg-based Duke Energy Florida has filed a plan with the Florida Public Service Commission to recover an estimated $1.1 billion in costs associated with Hurricanes Debby, Helene and Milton. The average residential customer will see a $21 monthly bill increase from March through February 2026. The increased revenue will reimburse the publicly traded utility’s efforts to restore power for approximately two million storm-impacted customers.
