Duke strengthens electric grid in Pinellas communities

February 4, 2025 - St. Petersburg-based Duke Energy Florida announced Tuesday morning that it has strengthened part of its electric grid around Seminole, Largo and Pinellas Park to improve reliability and reduce power outages. Crews installed modernized equipment and automated technology to three power line circuits that service nearly 3,500 customers and are fed through the Cross Bayou Substation. The project, which encompassed about 10 miles of power lines and 70 poles, began in 2023.
