Duke surprises customers with holiday deposit fees
December 20, 2025 - Several Duke Energy Florida customers throughout the area have expressed frustration after discovering unexpected deposits added to their monthly bills. A Largo resident showed WTVT how her deposit nearly tripled her monthly charges during the holiday season. St. Petersburg-based Duke told the local broadcaster that accounts are "subject to an annual review," and the publicly-traded utility would credit the money to customers "after nine months of good payment history."
