Florida’s tech sector was ‘bright spot’ in June jobless report

July 22, 2019 - Florida employers added 218,800 net new jobs in June, and overall hiring is up 2.5 percent over the past year, a report from Wells Fargo Securities said. Job growth was broad-based, with employers in healthcare adding 5,500 jobs. The tech sector was a "bright spot," the report said. Employers in the information sector, which includes software development, data processing and data hosting, added 500 jobs, while professional, scientific and technical services added 4,400. There were declines in leisure and hospitality payrolls. Florida’s unemployment rate held steady at 3.4 percent, which is slightly below the national rate, the report said.
