Howard Frankland Bridge costs increase by $108 million

January 10, 2026 - The cost to replace the 1960s-era Howard Frankland Bridge has increased from $865.3 million to $973.4 million, according to a Florida Department of Transportation update. Four express lanes and a multi-use path, the remaining primary components, will open in the spring. Contractors will demolish the old bridge in the summer, completing a project that began in the spring of 2020.
