Insurance startup with Tampa ties raises $47M

August 28, 2019 - Kin Insurance has raised $47 million in funding to launch the Kin Interinsurance Network, a Florida home insurance carrier. Investors in the capital raise included August Capital, Avanta, HSCM Bermuda and UChicago Startup Investment Program, a news release said. Kin Insurance is headquartered in Chicago, but the principal office for the new network is in Tampa, according to the company's website. Kin, a technology-driven home insurance provider, was launched in 2016 by fin tech entrepreneurs Sean Harper and Lucas Ward.
