Jackson autopsy results could take 10 months or more to arrive
April 10, 2021 - The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s office said on Friday that autopsy results for former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Vincent Jackson could be delayed by 10 months or more. In an email to the Catalyst, county spokeswoman Michelle Van Dyke said researchers at Boston University are performing chronic traumatic encephalopathy tests on Jackson’s brain. CTE, a degenerative disease that affects brain function and lead to dementia, is common among athletes who sustain repeated concussions. Jackson, a standout wide receiver for the Bucs from 2012 to 2016, died in February. In addition to being a football star, he was also active in the Tampa Bay community as a businessman and philanthropist. He was a partner in Callaloo Group LLC, which is developing 22 South Food Hall, the centerpiece of the revamped Manhattan Casino in South St. Petersburg.
