Kriseman, Castor call for gun laws
August 8, 2019 - St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman and Tampa Mayor Jane Castor are among 214 mayors from across the country who signed a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), urging them to immediately call the Senate back to Washington to take action on bipartisan gun safety legislation. Mayors are focusing on two bills that previously passed the House. One would close loopholes in the nation's background check system for gun purchase, while the other would lengthen the background check review period deadline. Read the full letter here.
