Local broadcaster retires after nearly 40 years
January 6, 2026 - Fox 13's Lloyd Sowers announced Monday that he is retiring after spending over 38 years with WTVT. The local broadcaster noted that Sowers covered a population boom that transformed the region, a visit from the Queen of England in 1991 and several hurricanes. Additional career highlights include a trip aboard "the most secret ship in the U.S. Navy's submarine fleet and visiting the site of the Titanic."
