USF St. Pete advances nursing program

The St. Petersburg City Council approved a lease with USF St. Petersburg that gives the school space for research and for a nursing program  that will start this fall. USF SP will lease the  10,713-square-foot Port Terminal Building at 250 8th Ave. SE. The school will pay $44,820 per year for three years.

Biotech sets up U.S. HQ in Tampa

Immunotherapy company Vycellix is establishing a U.S. headquarters adjacent to the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa. Vycellix, founded by researchers at Sweden’s Karolinska Institutet, works with Moffitt on potential treatments for cancer.

Stonehenge sells YPrime

Stonehenge Growth Equity Partners in Tampa sold its interest in YPrime, a healthcare software company in Pennsylvania. YPrime received an investment from Chicago private equity firm Flexpoint Ford. It was Stonehenge’s third successful exit in the clinical trials software market.

Superior sales, profit up

Superior Group of Companies had $17 million in net income, or $1.10 a share, on revenue of $346.4 million in 2018. Sales were up 30 percent and net income was up 13 percent over 2017. Superior (Nasdaq: SGC) is a Seminole company with uniform, branding and call center operations.

Bucs pick concessions partner

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers said Legends will become the team’s new exclusive hospitality rights partner at Raymond James Stadium, effective March 1. Legends will manage and operate the stadium's general and premium concessions. Enhanced food options are planned.

Odessa gets a Publix Green Wise

Publix Super Markets will open a Green Wise Market in Odessa. Green Wise Market is a specialty, natural and organic store that offers unique and local products. Publix has a handful of Green Wise Markets open or under construction. The Odessa store will be the first in the Tampa-St. Pete area.

Raymond James has $500M credit deal

Raymond James Financial (NYSE: RJF) signed an unsecured five-year, $500 million revolving credit agreement with a syndicate of lenders led by Bank of America, Citibank, JP Morgan Chase Bank and Regions Bank. The St. Petersburg company said the deal strengthens its flexibility.    

Top honor for USF St. Pete Tiedemann College

MBACentral, a business school resource site, named the University of South Florida Kate Tiedemann College of Business No. 1 in a ranking of online forensic accounting degree programs. MBA Central cited national recognition, elite business accreditations and manageable tuition as a few of the reasons behind its ranking.

Hurricane cuts profit at UPC insurance

United Insurance Holdings Corp. (Nasdaq: UIHC) posted net income of $290,000 for 2018, a 97 percent drop from 2017. Hurricane Michael and other catastrophic events cut profits at the St. Petersburg-based property and casualty insurer. Revenue was up 10.6 percent to $723.9 million.

Report: Triad losing major customer

In what Ad Age is calling a “huge blow” to St. Pete-based digital marketer Triad, Walmart will take over its own website ad sales and analytics. Walmart accounted for “the bulk” of Triad’s work, the report said. A spokesman for Triad declined to comment.  Triad last week rebranded and said it would add services, including consulting.

Peerfit expands into Medicare

Peerfit will roll out Peerfit Move, a new benefit for Medicare Advantage plan members, next year. Luisa Charbonneau will join as senior advisor to lead the expansion. The Tampa company historically has connected employers and their employees to fitness studios and gyms.  

Catalina emerges from bankruptcy

Catalina completed its financial restructuring and emerged from Chapter 11. Through the process, which started in December, the St. Petersburg digital marketer cut its debt by 85 percent. The company has new ownership made up of its existing lenders.
