Publix donates $2.5 million to Habitat for Humanity and other housing groups

December 4, 2020 - Publix Super Markets Charities is donating $2.5 million to support 113 Habitat for Humanity affiliates and 76 additional organizations providing housing and shelter services across the Southeast United States. The donation, announced on  National Roof Over Your Head Day, reinforces Publix Super Market Charities' s commitment to meeting the basic needs of the communities it serves through transitional support, client service programs and financial support for housing, a news release said. Over the last six years, Publix Super Markets Charities has donated more than $25 million to Habitat for Humanity affiliates and other nonprofit organizations providing housing and shelter services throughout the states where Publix operates. Publix, headquartered in Lakeland, is among the largest employers in St. Petersburg.
