Radio company Beasley Media lays off St. Pete workers

April 22, 2020 - Beasley Media Group laid off 70 employees at its St. Petersburg facility on April 1. Emergencies and restrictions resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic adversely affected business operations, the company said in an April 9 Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification sent to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity and made public Tuesday. The "permanent layoffs and furloughs" impacted workers at the company's office on Executive Center Drive in St. Petersburg, but the WARN did not say what jobs or positions were impacted. Beasley (Nasdaq: BBGI), based in Philadelphia, operates seven radio stations in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area: WYUU and WYUU HD2, WPBB, WQYK, WHFS, WRBQ and WLLD.
