Red tide lingers locally
April 8, 2023 - The latest Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission update shows just one bloom concentration of Karenia brevis, the red tide organism, along the southern Pinellas County beaches. However, that was the only “high” level recorded along the entire Gulf Coast. The FWC also relayed reports of respiratory irritation from red tide in Pinellas, but no fish kills.
