Regional councils receive nearly $1.5 million to study flood planning
January 15, 2021 - Six regional planning councils, including the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council, have received $1,499,000 from the state that will support a three-year effort to help communities around Florida develop strategies to better deal with flooding. The support is part of $20 million in resiliency funding awarded by Florida’s Department of Economic Opportunity to 37 municipalities, educational institutions and nonprofit organizations around the state. The councils will help communities create flood maps, models and mitigation plans, with the goal of developing a cohesive statewide approach to flood planning.
