Rowdies advance to conference championship
October 31, 2022 - Following Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Memphis 901 FC, the Tampa Bay Rowdies will play in the USL Championship Eastern Conference Final for the third straight year. Inclement weather caused officials to postpone the match at AutoZone Park, initially scheduled for Saturday night, until Sunday afternoon. Once the two teams began play, neither could manage a goal during 90 minutes of regular time. Once in added minutes, Rowdies keeper Phil Breno made a diving save on a penalty kick that kept the team’s championship hopes alive. Four minutes later, Leo Fernandes sealed a Tampa Bay victory with a sharp kick to the right of the Memphis net. The Rowdies will remain on the road as they face the Eastern Conference’s number one seed Louisville City FC Saturday, Nov. 5, at 7:30 p.m.
