Six arrested for ID theft in St. Pete, Pinellas, Hillsborough

June 24, 2020 - State and local authorities have arrested six people accused of stealing the personal information of more than 100 victims. The defendants used the victims' personal information to get credit cards, with losses totaling more than $650,000, according to a news release from Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody. The scheme began in January 2017 and continued through April 2018 and the crimes were concentrated in Pinellas, Hillsborough and Saint Lucie counties, the news release said. Those under arrest are identified in the news release as Samishia Askew, Gregory Engram, Carnessa Rouse, Towan Rush, Donta White and Valisha Williams. The Pinellas and Hillsborough Sheriff's offices along with St. Petersburg Police, worked with the attorney general's Office of Statewide Prosecution on the investigation.
