SPPD launches operation to mitigate traffic fatalities

November 23, 2022 - The St. Petersburg Police Department is participating in a statewide campaign to increase pedestrian, bicyclist and motorist safety on busy roads. According to the release, 11 pedestrians and one bicyclist have died in the city this year. The department will begin its special operations Dec. 1, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., on 34th Street North and South. The High Visibility Enforcement program runs through May 2023.
