St. Pete one of the top cities in the U.S. to work from home
January 11, 2021 - St. Petersburg has been named the No. 5 best city to work from home by SmartAsset, a personal finance website. To determine the rankings, SmartAsset compared 100 of the largest U.S. cities across seven metrics including work-from-home flexibility prior to and during Covid-19, employment opportunities, poverty rates and housing affordability. According to data collected by SmartAsset, just over 9 percent of St. Pete's workforce worked from home, though more than 30 percent are allowed to do so, and the percentage of the workforce working from home has grown by 4.6 percent between 2014 and 2019. Pinellas County also earned high marks for its low unemployment rate of 5.2 percent - 1.5 percent percentage points below the national average. Tampa made the list as well at No. 28.
