St. Pete startup reaches the Moon

February 23, 2024 - Lonestar Data Holdings became a part of space history at 6:24 p.m. Thursday when Intuitive Machines’ lunar lander, Odysseus, landed on the Moon. Lonestar operates from the St. Petersburg Innovation District’s Maritime and Defense Technology Hub, and its payload aboard Odysseus successfully transmitted data to and from space. A digital copy of the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights are now safeguarded on the Moon, where Lonestar plans to store the world’s data. The mission marks the first time a U.S. spacecraft has reached the lunar surface since 1972, and the first time in history a private company accomplished the feat.
