Tampa insurer fined $250k for hurricane claims

November 4, 2025 - Tampa-based Slide Insurance faces $250,000 for employing improperly appointed adjusters and failing to provide policyholders with certain disclosure statements following Hurricanes Ian and Idalia. The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation also announced Monday that roughly 16% Ian claims that Slide closed with partial or no payments lacked a disclosure statement that encourages homeowners to contact the company with any questions, concerns or for additional information. Slide is the fifth-largest private property insurer in Florida, and Ian is the costliest storm in state history.
