Tampa sets new record for hottest month

August 2, 2022 - According to the National Weather Service, Tampa broke two heat-related records in July - the warmest month and warmest consecutive months. The city averaged a temperature of 86.3 last month, breaking the previous record of 85.8 set in September 2018. The average temperature through June and July was 85.7, topping July and August of 2020’s previous high of 85.7. Meteorologists started keeping heat records in 1890.
