Tampa-St. Pete metro population grows
May 23, 2019 - The population of the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater metro area grew 1.66 percent in the last year, new numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau show. The metro area had a population of 3,142,663 on July 1, 2018, compared to 3,091,225 on the same day in 2017. The city of St. Petersburg saw a 0.83 percent population gain in the same time period, and had a population of 265,098 on July 1, 2018.
