Tyrone Square, Westfield malls lose stores as Ascena Group files for bankruptcy

July 24, 2020 - Ascena Retail Group, the parent company of several women's and girls retail apparel shops, will close seven stores in the Tampa-St. Petersburg area as part of a Chapter 11 restructuring. The local brands and stores are listed in a document filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court. Justice, which serves tween girls, will close stores at Tyrone Square in St. Petersburg, Westfield Countryside in Clearwater, and Westfield Citrus Park and WestShore Mall in Tampa. Lane Bryant, a plus fashion store, will close its store at Westfield Citrus Park. Ascena also is closing all of its Catherines stores, another plus fashion retailer, including stores at Clearwater Mall and Lake Brandon Plaza in Brandon. Ascena (Nasdaq: ASNA) said the restructuring will reduce its debt by about $1 billion and provide increased financial flexibility.
