Unemployment claims drop slightly in Florida
July 23, 2020 - Florida remains one of the top states for first-time unemployment claims although there was a slight drop in initial claims for benefits in the week ended July 18. There were 105,410 claims filed by Floridians last week, down from 132,831 claims a week earlier. California and Georgia were the only two states with more claims than Florida last week. Nationally, there were 1.4 million first-time unemployment claims in the week ended July 18, a report from the U.S. Department of Labor said.
