April 1, 2022 - Startup Abilitare from the University of Florida was declared the winner of TiE Tampa Bay's University Final Pitch Event Thursday night at Embarc Collective. The pitch competition is for college campus-based startups and is open to idea-stage entrepreneurs. The teams are mentored by TiE members and ecosystem partners and then compete with the winning teams from across the globe. Abilitare focuses on empowering people who cannot use their hands or fingers by providing hands-free control of smartphones and computers. The startup will now proceed to compete in the Global Finals for a $50,000 prize. While Abilitare landed in first place, Baintec earned second place and Aiden's Friends placed in third.
